Just wondering if anyone can tell me if the 2000 STS Alternator and the 2000 Deville Alternator are the same? I talked to my local Cadillac dealer today and they said after running my VIN that it is the same. Just wondering if this is in fact the case. A new alternator from GM is 1270.00 here and I can get a 2000 Deville alternator for much much less threw a local wrecker.

Thanks for your help.

Hard shot to call. Take a look at the 2 cars in www.rockauto.com and find the part numbers there. If they're the same, with that and the Cadillac dealer info you should be OK. Make sure you use the proper Deville - base, DHS, DTS, (Concours ?)

Yes they are both the same, they are water cooled alternators, and according to the GM parts manual they are different than the water cooled alternator used in the 98/99 Sevilles.
