I have a nice buzz coming from under and forward of the driver pedals on my 2000 escalade. I put it up on stands yesturday and ran the engine where it usually buzzes, which is about 1500 revs. couldn't make it buzz, so i started tapping exhaust with the rubber malet. I thought it was the heat shield above the cross over which would be right in the areaof my problems, but it wasn't it. I did notice a slight buzz when tapping on the y under the O2 sensor. Took the sensor out, and the buzz seemed to go away. Anyone else ever run across this, or am i barking up the wrong tree?

It is a common problem and has been talked about here before. Do a search in this section and you will find that people have found that the O2 sensor was causing the rattling noise. Sound like thats what you have. Good job on finding it.

I have had to replace the doughnut gaskets between the exhust manifolds and Y-pipe but the leaks sounded like a tick more than a buzz. I have also had a cracked exhaust manifold which ticked untill it was warm. Is the sound absent at high RPM? The O2 sensors and cats are about the only things I haven't replaced plus after X amount of miles are unlikely to loosen and leak. I would check the exhust manifold bolts and integrity.
