Hi, I am new to the forums but have gotten much useful information from here. I have a 2000 El Dorado that just in the last few days has begun honking one time when I press unlock on the key fob. It had always beeped while locking, but never before while unlocking. Can anyone advise on what is going on and how to stop it? I appreciate your input!

I would check the owners manual first, if you don't have one they are available free to download most years. Check the forums for your year car.
Personalization between fob's, seat positions and all that jazz should be covered in the owners manual.

Yup ^^^

Owner's manual, Personalization. You can change the settings for key fobs 1 and 2 independently.

You should have two remote fobs and 3 keys - 2 black keys and a gray valet key. Study up on how to use them.

page 2-79 in the Owners Manual discusses LOCK/UNLOCK CONFORMATION -
there is a setting for HORN SOUNDS AT LOCK -
there is no setting for horn sounds at unlock - only LIGHTS FLASH AT UNLOCK -

if this is happening all the time -
my thought is that the horn relay is somehow getting back-feed power from the headlight relay -
though I can't imagine how that could happen -

try disabling the LIGHTS FLASH AT UNLOCK - and EXTERIOR LIGHTS AT UNLOCK -
to verify or dismiss my theory -
