Hello to all sorry if this is in the wrong place. This is my first ever post. But I have a 2000 deville long story short it wouldn't turn over. Fuel pump comes on. I have replaced the starter the relay have a new coded key for it I have tested for power on the purple wire replaced te battery and the neutral switch. All with nothing. The fuel pump comes on and now the car clicks like it's not getting enough power. I have tried jump starting it new battery even put an optima in it. I ran a new ground from the block to see if that was the problem and it's still just clicking. If I run power to the purple wire it will turn over but won't start. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance

Re: 2000 Cadillac deville HELP

===========================
any time something acts up on your Cadillac -
the FIRST thing you should is check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes -

if you don't know how - go here and read the ENTIRE post -

http://www.cadillacforums.com/forum...orums/cadillac-deville-1985-2005-including-1985/138257-how-pull-codes-dtcs.html

if you have any codes - post them here -
ALONG WITH THEIR DEFINITIONS -

======================

I have replaced the starter
what brand starter did you buy?
and PLEASE don't say from autozone -

now the car clicks like it's not getting enough power.
could be a bad starter solenoid -

If I run power to the purple wire it will turn over but won't start.

what purple wire?

that could be a bad ignition switch -

Re: 2000 Cadillac deville HELP

I ran the codes and I got a code for low voltage to PCM and memory loss on PCM narrowed it down to a bad fuse. And the solenoid is tested and good. And the purple wire running from the starter that runs under the intake. The starter is from napa I get a lot of my parts from there

so - the purple wire mist be the trigger for the starter solenoid -

if it is not getting power when in the START position -
the problem should be the ignition switch -
NOT the ignition LOCK -

just for kicks -
to eliminate any thoughts of a THEFT DETERRENT problem -
turn the ignition to the ON position -
then jump the purple wire to energize the solenoid -

the engine should spin - and start -

Re: 2000 Cadillac deville HELP

It's not the ignition because there's no power on the purple wire unless the key is in the start position. And I have jumped the purple wire and can get the engine to turn over but still no start. I'm getting fuel the only other thing it could be is spark? But why will it only click with the key like it's not getting enough voltage. Only turn over if I jump the wire.

It's not the ignition
because there's no power on the purple wire

I assume the purple wire is the trigger for the starter solenoid -

if this is true -

the purple wire should only be "HOT"
when the ignition key is turned to the START POSITION -

the ignition switch must be in the ON position -
or you will NOT get spark -

thus -

if you jump the purple wire with the ignition NOT in the ON/RUN position -
the engine will turn over - but - because it has no spark - will not run -

And we're getting the starter to click it's just like ya not getting enough power to engage it.
That is exactly your problem.
Weak battery
Dead cell
corroded cable connection
corrosion under the cable insulation

If the battery has a dead cell, you can jump it all day and it won't start. Take the battery out of the equation and drop in a known good battery or at very least, run the jumpers from the good battery to the disconnected cables, bypassing the existing battery.

Obviously the problem is not the starter or battery.
Not true. Can still be the battery. You are powering A LOT of modules and systems on these vehicles prior to it turning over. Starter does seem okay though from the sound of it. OP if it was truly a NEW battery take it back to the store and get a replacement. I have bought new batteries that had bad cells.

you must carefully read each thread -
and sometimes read between the lines -

this from post #14 -
Have the one battery in the back with a charger hooked on it
then have jumper cables Hooke up up front on the positive pin to fuse box
and jumping it off the positive terminal from the fuse box

that means he is actually jumping the starter from the jumper cables -
