I just bought a 2000 Deville and the Average Fuel Economy gauge has a strange problem. If I reset it at the start of a drive, it works fine. After turning the car off and letting it sit for a while, it reads 5 mpg whenever I turn the car back on. It seems like it is still averaging the fuel economy even when the car is turned off. Anyone seen this problem before?

We are having a very similar issue with our 2000 DeVille - the gas meter and mileage range is jacked up. Just read another post and it said it had to do with some updates that fixed a couple of sensors. I would really like to fix the issue myself w/out having to deal with the dealership.
