Just had the the 2 way remote advanced starter put in today and im not happy. All the special features on the fob work well but the range is no better than the original fob. Do not buy this starter if your looking for more range because you will be upset. I will be back at the dealership on monday requesting a refund....dont waste your money!!!!!

They mounted my antenna inside right before the rear glass. Is this antenna weather proof? I will ask them to change the location. I have to literally see my truck before it starts just like with the old remote. Thanks

Wow,

Sorry to hear you guys are having such problems...

I don't have the two-way, but I have the normal 08 ESV remote... Back When I first bought it, I could start my vehicle from the 18th floor of a building downtown... Now, 3 years later, the range has decreased, but it's still great (I can still start it up from clients offices who are on 6-8th floor of buildings). (We have horrible winters here, so I use the remote start regularly).

My Range is great as well with the antenna mounted inside by the rear window (EXT). I started having range problems about 3 months after installation and had to replace the battery in the remote...range was restored..maybe the battery is low or the hookup to the antenna is bad. I can start mine while sitting on the couch with the vehicle out of sight and about 150 feet away.

I should clarify , my antenna is mounted on the ledge above the window outside . It is slightly protected from the elements , mounting is the original two-face tape . It has managed to stay on in summer heat , winter weather , and car washes . The car wash would take it off if it would hit it . I don't have the side window to attach like the suv . It was mounted in the ceiling and had horrible range , I tried the inside rear window and it seems like the de-froster wires interfered with the range also .

Ok!!! Just left the dealership and had my antenna mounted in the very rear window on the drivers side and what a difference that made. I just walked to the end of my block and started my truck and I didn't have the fob facing my truck. I showed the dealership this forum and they didn't know that this existed. I know that I won't get the range like an aftermarket starter but Im not complaining with my new range. Thanks for all the replies !!!

I Install the CLifford Version of the Remote Starter made by VIPER and the Range is like 2 to 3 blocks away as longer I got vision with the vehicle, The Antenna is install inside the windshield center behind the Rearview mirror, and works GREAT!!! still Planing to Install the Smart Star though!:)
