1st time owner and memner

Morning all,

Just signed up with the forums. I hope to get a lot of information for my new baby. I purchased a 1989 Cadillac Deville Sedan, loaded with digital dash with a 107,500 miles on it. The body looks brand new, it was garaged winters.

Nice to meet you all - it's time to start poking around! :)

Thank you! Let's see.. No pics yet, I will work on that. The thing looks brand new. It's Silver with all original options - everything works on it. The only thing on the interior is the arm rests on each front door have duct tape on them due to ripping from the door. Other than that.. Int is 90%. I will get some pics to post. Let see.... I also want to put XM in it or replace the deck with at least a CD/MP3. The factory radio sounds so loud and has good bass, I am temped to get a XM cassette kit for it instead. What do you think? Anyone else get one of those or rewire a monster sound system in these babies. I am a first time Caddy owner.

See ya!

You can really go crazy with a stereo in a caddy, Everything always revolves around money and brand preference. Give me some things you were thinking and ill let you know what i have experience in.
Re: 1st time owner and memner

About getting the tape for the xm i would not recommend that just b/c of audio quailty. With a better head unit and a good connection the xm will be great. Having a cd/mp3 head unit is great b/c you only need 10% of the cd's b/c of the capacity of a cd with mp3's. This is just somethings to get you thinking. I have put a lot of systems in friends cars and mine as well. I would never pay anyone to do it unless its custom.

Woah?! You guys are fast.. I was thinking the XM setup if I don't change the deck out. Here is the link:

Unit:

Acc pack:

This way seems cheaper, but I am not sure of the quality, etc..

Thanks for your help!

Yes that is the "cheap" way out but the quality will be horrible. If you want to figure out the quality put a tape adaptor with a cd player in your stereo that will give you a clue on what it will sound like.

There are plenty of units out there that will give you a cd/mp3 and xm hookup for a great price. Do you have any brands or prices or questions let me know

Those are GREAT products. Those prices are REALLY steep though i can save some cash with some hunting and get you the Premier model as well.
For the headunit i would get the 7500MP premier for that price.
much better head unit and it has mp3s
the xm unit pioneer has is great b/c of how easy it is to use with there headunits. Are you thinking about getting speakers and an amp. How far you want to go.,

Re: 1st time owner and memner

Yes, thanks. I need to save up though. But I think I will go this route. I will probably replace the rear deck speakers with new 6x9's as well.

:)

Thanks for your help!
