Full sticker on C6? Find a different dealer.

Bite the bullet and buy a C6 Z06. It would look good next too the other muscle cars in the collection. You know you want one. :)

With respect to the C6 Z06, I'd have to respectfully disagree with the Stealth-ster. Get a stock C6 and supercharge it instead. ;) You'll see a lot more RWHP than the Z06. Granted, that isn't everything, but it's a significant part!

2006 Vettes are going for $5,000 - $6,000 off sticker. They are giving you too much for your trade hence the "sticker price" offer. Your 2004 V is worth around $31K, unfortunately for all of us. So you can slice and dice it anyway you want but the dealer will hold his margin somewhere.

On a bright note, this is an EXCELLENT time to buy a Vette. Especially in the Northeast and Midwest.

Let the GAMES Begin---a dealer offered me $36,000 trade-in on a 2005 VETTE--BUTwants FULL STICKER Price on the VETTE...
Ginnie
I would check the Corvette forum dealers for help in finding 05 Vettes. Most are offering invoice pricing.

06s are going for 4000-5000 off MSRP. 06 has a stronger rear and better interior details.

You should be able to sell your 04 V on eBay yourself. 36k was not a bad trade offer if the Vette had been priced reasonably.

36k seems pretty high for an 04 considering some people have picked up brand new 05s for around $41k. If anyone pays more that $48-49k for a new 06, they are nuts. It'll have a trade in value of around $35k by the end of the year.

No used cars have good resale value after the first year or two though. IMO, they are forcing people to keep their cars longer which hurts their sales.

I will not name the dealer at this time BUT yes I think they are being a little too Greedy---they are getting FULL STICKER for the 2005. If they would knock money off the Vette I am sure we could make a deal.
Appreciate All the comments--keep them coming.
Thanks, Ginnie

A stock w/roof 2005 V with, less than 10k miles, is averaging $30k retail in the REAL world, today. You are up against the market. If you're in a hurry, plan to eat the loss. As for a trade, don't even talk it into the deal until after the Corvette pricing is settled. Go to the corvetteforum site for a supporting dealer, as suggested. But, keep your V out of the discussion, because they will play with the C6 number to compensate.

There is a 2005 V on eBay right now for $36K BIN. The market prices do not reflect the kbb value at all... very similar to my RL. I bought it for $46K in March and could probably sell it for no more than $38K right now.

I'm with you!! I am aiming for the Z06 in 2007. And I am working on positioning myself to have that as an option (hold the V).

If everyone would stop dumping them they would hold value. I think with the GM pricing gone and the new LS2.

That there will be some sold low, but I think that the price will stop at were it is for a while. Just cause what you see here on the board don't mean that you cant sell the car for more. Take a look on autotrader and see what the V's are going for, the cheapies are on this board and ebay, but not everyone shops for a car that way.

If your trading you V in you have to take into consideration on saveings on the tax. Say you get 36000 for the V in "texas" the tax rate you save will be 6.25 which equates to about 2250 dollars, which then brings your trade in at or about 38250. Which now all you have to do is talk them down on the vette and make it a deal.

Check the Corvette Forum boards. There are huge discounts on both the 05 and 06s. 06s @ invoice, 05s(many around) with 8-10 grand off.
Covettes are really soft. The C5 prices have been in freefall for about 2 months now. There has never been a better time to purchase a Vette, new or used!
