1999 DeVille Heater-A/C will not go in "Auto" mode. Stays in "ECON"

I noticed that my HVAC system will not switch into the "Auto" mode (stays in the "ECON" setting) on heat or A/C. I thought I saw a message on the dash message thing that the A/C refrigerant was low but it has not come back on and it is still in ECON. If I run the front defrosters the ECON will go off.

Thanks for any input.

And you are going to have to clear the low refrigerant code in order to enable the compressor before you add refrigerant (assuming you do it yourself).
