Hey Folks:

My 1997 cadillac deville started to have problems with stalling. It stalled once last week while parked and it stalled again tonight. Except that tonight it stalled two times at the same intersection while stopped waiting for the light to go green. What could be causing this? I've own this car for a little over 2 months and it never had these stalling problems until just recently. We did however have to have the coolant tank replaced a couple weeks ago because it had cracked.

The car has 140,500 miles on it.

I am in no way an expert in automotive, so I'm not sure of what any of these mean. I was however researching the forums and have found that this seems be a common problem with these cadillacs, but that it's also very hard to find the problem. I'm just now hoping that I didn't pick up something that's gonna cause us a lot of problems.

CKP (Crankshaft Position) sensor failure is common in 2000-2003's, but your symptoms are that of a CKP failure.

Pull the DTC's (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) by simultaneously pressing and holding the OFF & WARMER buttons. Once in the diagnostic mode, HIGH FAN = YES and LOW FAN = NO to answer the prompts.

Decipher your codes here and then post them.
