My son was driving the other day and the car just stopped,(4.6 northstar) I can hear the pump when I turn on the key, I have spark, but no pressure at the rail, could the fuel relay cause this or does it sound like the pump is bad?

Sounds like pump failed to me, you may be hearing the ELC running when turn key on. Check fuse/relay then the pressure but sure sounds like pump time. Tank has to be dropped these years.

.......... or the FPR (Fuel Pressure Regulator) diaphragm or vacuum supply has failed.

The car has a fuel pressure test port at the end of the fuel rail - a Schrader valve covered by a black cap. Rent a fuel pressure test set from a large parts store. 41 - 47 psi, key ON. Over 40 psi running.
