1996 Deville fuel pump fuse problems

96 deville has blown the fuel pump fuse while cruzin 80 down the interstate 3 times in two days. the fuel pump and filter are about 8
months old and been working good until yesterday, the first time this happened. ive replaced the relay. I read ab the oil pressure switch
being in line on the fuel pump circuit so I checked it, the wiring looks good not bare or touching exhaust. there is a little oil leak around
the switch but my oil pressure hasn't caused any lights to come on or any thing. its weird I drive around all day the it just dies out of
nowhere. has anyone had this problem?

If the FUSE is blowing it is from the FUSE to the Pump. Either pump is going bad again(read if you used cheapo AutoZone parts) or maybe wiring is chafed by the tank. Your new pump came with new wiring to splice in wasn't it? If not done correctly may be rubbing and shorting but to me sounds like FP is going bad.
mine plugged directly into the harness and I checked for bad spots on the pigtail when I had it out. just wondering if anyone had any bad spots in theirs for somewhere to start looking. ive been driving for 2 days with no problems now but that said it will prob die on the way home.
Possible wires maybe chafed now, but sounds like pump is shorting out.
I can remember a few with wire issues near connectors at the tank and where the spliced into it. Short of that cpuld check the fuse panel for corrosion especially under it (if pump fuse underhood).
ya its under the hood on the drivers fender well and the car was in south Florida at a condo on the beach(salt air) until a few years ago. ill check that next thanks
