Got an estimate from a shop around here for a workaround brake change for about $450 including parts and labor. Not sure what type of brakes they would be installing (hopefully top of line for that kind of price), but does this sounds reasonable to you guys??

That's pretty typical price for just about any car. Some people pay a lot more then that. Are they just changing the pads or shoes or more?

I believe that they are just changing the pads, and any problems/extra repairs they have to do or run into will probably be at an additional charge.
