Looking at purchasing a 1987 brougham d'elegance. Not that familiar with the 307 engine. This is like new, even with 85000 miles, what should i be looking for on this model with respect to possible problem areas? Everything seems to work. Is there much trouble with the leveling sys? Anyone with experience in this model any information would be appreciated. thanks Lloyd

Absolutely the most reliable engine ever installed in a Cadillac. Quite possibly the weakest engine too but you can't have everything. ;)
That car overall is a very reliable beast, I love 'em. The air-ride is no big deal, cheap and easy to fix. Any problems with the car, this is the place to come. The biggest weak spot on the car would be the transmission but at the mileage you mentioned, you SHOULD be ok for quite a while. Most tend to get at least 100K miles. I would suggest a carb rebuild and timing chain/gears at approx. 100K miles, and if you pick-up a little detonation at part-throttle, I have a fix for it. Have fun with the car.

Kevin thanks for answer. The tranny was just rebuilt 4 months ago,the carb. 2 mos ago and the a/c 2 yrs ago. So it would seem some of the problem areas have been handled. I appreciate your knowledge on this model and will try to post a pic soon. Its white with the continental kit. lloyd

The Fleetwood is a great car. Like Katshot said though the tranny is the weakest link. I have two 85's and on one of them I pulled the 4.1L engine and put the Olds motor. I used the 350 olds motor. The olds motor sounds really good when you put dual pipes on them...

Enjoy the car. Any questions feel free to ask...
