Bill Donnelly here, new guy;have a 1973 coupe de ville driver.had a parts car I was asking $600.00 for,was offered $350.00 cash plus a 1983 eldorado in trade.the eldorado has 50k on it very clean;nice paint great upholstery ,,new tires etc,has been sitting in a garage since 1994.it has the gas v8 in it.has all the usual good guy acessories on it.windows, seat, radio etc. all work.the guy told me it needed head gaskets, there is no water in the oil,but the starter will not turn the motor over.Is this car worth putting on head gaskets, assuming every thing else is ok??I normally play around with the old rear wheel drive GM cars .is this a money pit or should I part it out? thanks Bill

I've had to do HG's on an '83, as have many others. Pretty common on the 4.1. Worth it? That's a personal choice, but you may be surprised when it's done. The 4.1 is a pig that can't get out of it's own way. It ain't what you are used to. You might want to drive one first if you can, if that is a consideration. Other than that, the '83 Eldo's where very nice cars.
