Remove the glove box liner. Locate the plastic arm attached to a metal rod. Turn ignition on and set the display to 90. Does the arm move? Now set it to 60. Does it move again?

You can just replace the blend door motor. Requires dropping the programmer which requires some contortionist skills, but definitely still worth it doing it yourself, lots of potential stuff someone who doesn't care will mess up. In the meantime, push the rod all the way to the firewall, that is max cold and will get you cooling in the meantime. Report back when you're ready to replace the blend door motor.

The plastic driven gear strips, to my knowledge no way to repair unless you happen to have the exact gear. This motor can be replaced with one from another 80s GM car with auto climate control or square bodied Cadillacs up until 1993.
