Hello Everyone, I just bought a 1976 Fleetwood Brougham, and would like to know when it was produced. I live in Hungary and I could register it in 2006 if it is produced in 1975. If it is produced in 1976 I could only register it in 2007 leaving me without a ride for a year. I already called Cadillac at the 1-800 number (where I had to pay for it since I was calling from abroad), anyway the Lady was absolutely helpful, but could not find any info for cars older than 10 Years. The VIN number checkers on the Internet accept only 17 digit VINs and mine is only 13 digits. Is there a way to find somehow the manufacturing date from this VIN: 6B69S6Q234391 ?
Thank You

Tibor

The Cadillac-LaSalle club might be able to give you info by the VIN number for the production date.

BTW, I recently re-read the FAQ on this site and they don't like mention of any other Cadillac sites. FYI.
Well, the Cadillac-LaSalle Club is a wealth of knowledge that is not available here. I highly doubt anyone would be upset if I refered him to them for more info about his car!

I have no problem with any factual resource and even recommended one to someone as you did. Read the FAQ though. The site owners are the site owners.

What I can figure out (maybe it will help, hopefully) is that the Q in your VIN number means your vehicle was made in Detroit. The 6 right before the Q means the model year is 1976. The actual VIN numbers aren't going to tell you the manufacturing date.

Go here for this info: http://100megsfree4.com/cadillac/cad1970/cad76.htm

If the car has not been re-finished then the production date might be shown on the driver's door jamb area.
Thanks it was a good idea, it's 03/76 on the tab. Do I assume correctly that this means march 1976 and not 3rd month of the modelyear 1976 (because that would be november 1975)?
