Hello I came upon a 1974 hearse I have a 1979 SDV. I would like to know if i can stuff that 1974 under my 1979 I heard that tread width for the 1974 is 63.3ins. and for my 1979 60.3ins. I also don't know about the control arms and brackets can anyone offer abit of advice .It will be greatly appreciated.

They might, but having an extra 1.5 inches width on each side might be a real problem to fenders. Maybe use the Eldo/Toro/Riviera FWD rims to get the offset corrected.

They have the same basic setup, but I have never heard of it being done.Do some measurements and see.

Typically 74's had lousy gears, like 2.41's to 2.73's. Being a hearse, maybe it got better, but 3.23's was best gear they ever came up with. Granted a 7L Cad v8 would probably love it.

Remember, you can run any rear, 77-96 for the B/D body. The 77-79ish are the same rear as the 71-76 B/C/D, but just narrower.

Car-Part.com shows 77-84 rear ends as interchangeable. But we do know that 71-77 A/G body, 77-96 B/D body (except 9x wide butt wagons) all shared rear ends.

The main differences were bolt pattern and axle supplier (Pontiac 8 7/8" (not the 12 bolt!) 10 bolt or Buffalo (Chevy) 8.5"
