Hey everybody, while checking out my HVAC (doesn't work at all) I found under the hood, the 3-wire harness that appears to be power (3 very fat orange wires) is disconnected from what looks like a vacuum motor at the top of the firewall.

I know Caddy was somewhat advanced in the climate controls compared to the other makes.. were they also problematic once they got old? I'm wondering why anybody would disconnect this harness or if it just got accidentally knocked off somehow. I'm a little leery to just re-connect 3 big power wires when it might end up letting the smoke out of something.

Here's a pic; large red circle at top is the vacuum motor assembly (duh!) and bottom smaller red circle is the harness that used to go to it.

Thanks for any help!

Plug it in, Its for the fan speed controller. Does the fog or ice setting work?

I agree, try it. My system on my 67 is the same, and has never worked for me. I have disconnected and cleaned all those connections under the hood. Nothing helps but I also did no harm by trying(no smoke!). I even replaced the dash control since the old one kept blowing the fuse. The new one doesn't blow the fuse, but still no HVAC. I wish it worked, but one battle at a time.
