Advanced Auto sells the PF61 for $9.99.
They have it listed online for $3.97... Maybe you're thinking of a different filter? AC-Delco used to make another line of filters that supposedly filtered better, but they filtered so well they were getting clogged up before their life span was up, so those are not available any longer, but they might have been called PF61-D or something, and they might have been about $10. An option anyway. $3.97 is the cheapest I found a PF61. Most places are over $4 or $5. Rock Auto wants $5.76 for one, and they usually have decent prices. Those are good filters. $43 total for 12 of them is a better price than you can get buying them one at a time. Maybe you could get a case of 12 for less than that, but I don't know where you'd go to find that.

Ranger,
Where do you find those good prices on the filters?
I just checked Advance Auto Parts' website again and verified that they're selling them for $9.99.

I see that Amazon is selling them for $5.

Well, in all honesty, I don't frequent Autozone. I have been there on occassion and I know I saw them there once and they were about the same price as F & F. I think they were big on Fram or Autolite as I recall.

Weirdo, I just pulled up that link and it went to Advance Auto Parts and listed the PF61 for $9.99. Looks like they're pricing things different in different regions.

LOL! That's weird. Mine clearly says $3.97. Maybe there's a cookie on my workstation that says "this guy is a cheapskate," so the site shows me the best price they have for it. I've heard this is possible, but I've never actually seen a real life example. I wonder what would happen if you selected a low-priced car that uses the PF61, or if you cleared out all your cookies and tried again. Know what I mean? Maybe they offer parts for higher prices if you list a higher-priced car. Try putting in "2005 Lamborghini Murcielago" and see what kind of price they give you, then try it again with "1986 Chevy Nova." :D

AutoZone or a place out here called Farm & Fleet.

The more I think about it, I am pretty sure they are $3.50

Just a tad off topic, but...You are only two hours away from me. heh. Tipped me off when you said Farm and Fleet, then I looked at your location.

I went to the autozone website also. Like you said, delco oil filters weren't listed. I do know that is where I bought mine though. I can't remember the exact price though.

It seems to me that the PF61 is no longer a stock item as mcowden suggests. What you may see is the old pricing versus the now, stock deplete price.

Often times when inventory is discontinued, it is received as "deplete" or no longer available. When quantity buyers such as Autozone secure large inventory to stock a region of stores, they may or may not indicate the status change of a stock item until there is almost none remaining. Store "A" may not have updated their software or inventory data base with the main warehouse so they will not indicate the new lower price that store "B" does.

As good as eBay is for many reasons, it is also bad about being a vast wasteland or dumping ground for odd lots of income stagnant inventory. Just a thought.
