First, a big thanks to CTSV154 for making and loaning me his diff bushing puller!!! It works great..perfect design as you will see in the pics. The bushing came out as a whole unit...no cutting..nothing.. just super easy!

Second, thanks to Luke and UUC and making/stocking the bushing!! another great product!

OK...I know there is an install pic thread but just wanted to post some more of different views/my experience..

Now CTSV154 gets all the credit for making (this) puller...and he said he doesn't want it back...so lets be fair about it....someone who has bushing in hand ready to install PM me and I will ship the puller out to you...you only pay $6-7 bucks for shipping....but as soon as your done you need to post it back up for the next guy..

here are some pics of the install...i read the other thread and it's spot on! the only part I was a little confused about is: you don't have to remove the drive shaft just take the bolts out..it gives plenty of room...and as you can see i supported the diff and drive shaft..

I'm glad it worked as good for you as it did me! Not half bad for some allthread, exhaust tubing, a few washers, and a few nuts all welded together! You'd really laugh if you knew how I turned down the washers to the right OD to fit the diff! :canttalk:

So how did this bushing do in stiffening everything up? How long did it take for install?
took 1.5 hours...from the time I pulled into the stall to the time I back out.....and I wasn't in a hurry..

I will put it this way...once I got my new diff the drive home was great...no clunk at all, after 500 miles the clunk was back. After the bushing install it feels like just like the day I got my new diff...but I don't expect the clunk to return like the soft rubber bushing....I will report back after I drop some miles on it

I have a slight aside here:

I just got a new diff bushing installed under warranty yesterday and will be having the KARS kit installed in one week. The question is: Do you guys think having the KARS kit tightening everything up will keep the GM bushing in better shape, i.e. not clunking like a bastard after 500-1000 miles?

If you have the pinion brace than it might. No pinion brace transfers everything to the bushing.

Nice...can't wait to install my bushing. Probably in the next few weeks since the weather is getting warmer.

Haveing done this and knowing where everything is and the clearances, what would your opinion be of someone trying this with a jack and jackstands? Dont bother, or enjoy the bloody knuckles?
