I pulled the plastic cover off the map lights (1st row, above the dash), and the black button on the driver side snapped off. It would still turn on and off, but after I tried to use epoxy to reattach the button it won't work at all. The button fell off again too. The driver side map light will still turn on when I use the dimming knob by the headlight switch. I went from having to just reattach the button to also having to figure out why it won't turn on. What do I do now?

If I can remember the buttons are powered and also connected ground, I think. Lol. I'll look again tonight at mine, I broke the damn cover trying to pry it so I''ll look and get back to you.

I've solved it :) The black button actually comes off the switch mechanism. I'm going to take the button from the 3rd row and swap it with the one above the dash. No one has ever sat in the 3rd row so I'm not worried about it back there. I'll get the 3rd row button to work, but it will be finicky as far as switching on/off.

Glad to see you got it. It seems, too me, that a lot of these so called luxury vehicles are cheaply made. More and more plastic parts being used because it's cheaper and hey us consumers will buy more and more parts.

Glad you got it figured out! It does raise a different(related) question though... My 08 ESV doesn't have a overhead lamp for the third row as it just has the 2 with the black buttons up front(driver/passenger), 2nd row which has 2 that are built into the ends of the DVD screen/unit and are turned on/off by actually pushing the lenses, and a single lamp in the roof in the cargo area(just behind the 3rd row) that has no manual switch but simply works with the doors being opened/closed or from the interior light switch "on" switch that is built into the illumination switch on the dash. Yours is different than that?

Thanks,
-John

Yes, my 3rd row light has 2 black buttons just like the very front. It can be turned on independent of all the other interior lights by 3rd row passengers (if I ever had any). It seems strange that yours doesn't have its own buttons for the 3rd row. I figured they would all be the same. I wish mine had more light behind the 3rd row. A light near the inside top of the lift gate that would illuminate the back when the gate is up would have been nice. With the 3rd row seats in, it's hard to see the cargo area behind them at night.
