Could anybody shed some light on this for me please? My 08 DTS has 128,000 miles on it and is just about flawless. The engine revs at 3000 RPM's when going 60 mph. There is no difference in 3rd and D when shifting my automatic transmission. What needs to be done what can be done? There is no engine light on nothing to indicate a problem I'm puzzled. Is the dealer the best place to have this addressed?

Might be the torque convertor?

Do you hear any kind of ticking noise?
Check the tranny fluid level 10 minutes of driving stop keep car running go slowly through all gears then leave in park and see the level and color of you're fluid?

Do you have poor acceleration?

4th gear (overdrive) engagement is controlled by speed and fluid line pressures. Band problems ??? You need a good transmission shop.

The Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) only removes the last 300 or so of slip rpm at highway loads over 43 mph in 4th gear. That's controlled by engine speed, vehicle speed, load, and gas/brake pedal position. Fluid porting is done by a control solenoid.
