Shop used dexron iv instead of dexron vi. Just noticed and it's been a couple months. Will this hurt the transmission?

There is no Dexron IV. It went from III to VI. I'd bet they wrote it wrong.

DEXRON-VI and DEXRON-III are fully compatible - however, your transmission is specified for -VI.

Tell them to replace the fluid with the correct type asap. This is on them should be no cost to you.
