That's great news! Did you have any issues with your dealer sourcing the new diff? Just curious.

I am very glad to hear that the parade clunk is not present with the '06 unit. My V has it pretty bad but no whine yet. I have started to register my complaints with my dealer who I think knows what is coming. Mainly, I was waiting until the '05 stock is gone before getting firm.

Please keep us posted.

Thanks,
Marty

When my differential went out, I took the car to Felix Cadillac in Los Angeles. I explained to the service manager that the '06 differential was the only one I wanted to I was going to have the car supercharged as soon as it left the dealership. It took 7 business days to get, but my car does not clunk, make that whiney sound, and I hopefully it'll keep up with the torque its gonna get sent its way when i drop my car off tomorrow morning at Stillen. Should have the car back thursday night or friday morning. Hopefully you can find the part number you were looking for.

That sucks, I finally did the research on it to find it was the old part number which sucks.... Hopefully this one can get 20 K on it.

I'm on my 4th diff. On my last one I triple checked with my service manager and the tech working on my V. They said no need to break in the diff. Do I believe it? No. But did I take their advice? Yes

Morons that GM employs... They have no idea what is going on, but they act like they are the only ones who DO know whats going on. Pisses me off.

I'm about to get my 3rd one. My V only has 7000 miles on it. My service manager is trying to get the new one 15XXXXXX on under warranty. I will find out in the next couple of days. Doesn't matter though...for my research it does the same thing.

When i blow my next one out, do you think they will cover it under warranty even if i have the maggie?

I cant believe some of you are on your third. GM f**ked up pretty bad with this diff problem. I wonder how much money GM spends on the V
s every year

It looks like they forgot the limited slip additive. Contrary to what some dealers believe, it is needed and we do have a limited slip. You can either go back to your dealer and have them put it in or wait to your rear end fails.

As far as the maggie goes, I wouldn't count on Cadillac paying the bill for a rear end failure if the maggie is installed. They don't have to and from what I heard the DSMs get real picky on the 2nd and more time failure. Expect them to start looking at your tire wear and other signs that you "abuse" your V.

And once it failed the third time, I would be seeing a lemon lawyer if the dealer didn't take it back. We should go through 1 rear dif maybe in the car's entire life. I love the V but I won't put up with a car that needs a rear end every 5, 10 or even 50,000 miles.
