Hi,

I installed a Draw-Tite Class III Trailer Hitch Receiver last summer and now I want to finish the job by installing the wiring harness but I don't know how to go about getting the right components.

I read some interesting posts and got some great pointers (e.g. purchase OEM wiring harness from GMPartsDirect and a bracket from Etrailer (thanks ggeimer!)). My question is, are these items standard for all SRX or does my SRX need to have a specific package in order to install a wiring harness? Do all SRX's have the wiring capabilities? Will the wiring harness bring instructions? Will an average person (like me) be able to install or does it require an electrical mechanic?

Please help and thanks in advance.

Re: 04 SRX: After trailer hicth install, how do you know which wiring harness ...

please read this post: http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/cadillac-srx-forum/74737-aftermarket-hitch-warranty.html

Look under your car on the driver side next to exhaust. If you see a connector that splits like in the pictures then you can plug in the wiring harness. I got mine ordered from a local dealer.
Installation is a 1 minute job, plug in and you're done. I didn;t install the bracket.

Hope it helps.

Yep, I did that on my 04. The harness mounting thing didn't fit to my hidden hitch, so I just throw the plug underneath the rear bumper. It rides up there just fine. I only tow once or twice a year, and it has never fallen out. I just clean it off good when I pull it out to use it (it gets dusty back there no matter where you put it).
