Mode Door Inoperative Error

On mine it’s the back seat a/c that’s blowing hot. How do I know which part I need?

I also just recently got the SDM B0029 Right Front/Passenger Side Deployment Loop Open

Thanks in advance for any help.

B0248 points to a faulty MODE DOOR ACTUATOR -
the MODE door actuator controls WHERE the air blows from -
floor vents - dash vents - defrost -

this is the LEAST fun actuator to replace - BUT doable - from under the dash -
the part you need is ACDELCO 15-72654 - $59 - with free shipping -

here is a HowTo - with pics - and a list of the tools you'll need -

over the years - we have added a few additional tips - read this -
2002 DTS has clicking noise in the instrument panel

On mine it’s the back seat a/c that’s blowing hot.
I would expect to see code B0428 or B0429 -
this points to a faulty #3 - back seat - MIX DOOR ACTUATOR -
the MIX door actuator controls air temperature -

the #2 - passenger side - and #3 back seat - share the same actuator -
it has a shaft within a shaft -
the large square shaft is for the passenger side MIX door -
the small "D" shaped inner shaft is for the back seat MIX door -

typically - the "D" shaped hole gets stripped and becomes an "O" shaped hole -
which no longer turns the cable to move the mix door -

this is the EASIEST actuator to replace by removing the glove box -

the part you need is ACDELCO 15-73428 - $64 - with free shipping -

here is a HowTo - with pics -

SPECIAL NOTE -
when removing the knee bolster -
PULL IT STRAIGHT BACK - DO NOT PULL IT DOWN -
you'll break the plastic guide pins off -

===========================

I also just recently got the SDM B0029 Right Front/Passenger Side Deployment Loop Open
IF you are lucky - it's just a dirty connection - try this -
with the ignition OFF -
remove the #8 - SIR - fuse located under the back seat -
wait about 5 minutes -
unplug the YELLOW connector under the passenger side seat -
then plug it back together - do this TWO more times -
this should clean off the electric contacts within the plugs -
re-install the fuse -
turn the ignition ON -
clear the codes -

thank you so much! I’ve order the part from Amazon and when it cools off I’m going to check out that connector - etc.
