It looks like the magazines are starting to place the HP closer to 350 instead of 400.

GM still has an issue with the stigma of the gaz guzzler tax. So maybe they are compromising to get better fuel economy and avoid the tax.

Ahh. GM always seems to cut back on the horsepower at the last minute.. The Z06 gets better gas mileage because of weight. Right? It only ways about 3100 pounds...
i'm sure cts isn't that far off from cts. I'm guessing within 300lbs. I did hear few ppl making comments that vettes aren't being pushed any harder because they don't want to pay gas guzzler's tax.

i hope that figure holds true. That will be awesome seeing these monsters out on the road beating all the performance euro and japanese contenders.
Shoot you only need an ls1 vette to beat the m3 so with the ls6 in cts you should be able to kill it and still have some room left.

I think i may check out the ctsv when it comes out. I love the ligenfelter twin turbo 427 vette. 0-60 in 1.97 sec... having the thoughts of sending the cts to ligenfelter is too good to be true.

ZO6 - 3116lbs.
CTS - 3509lbs.
The weight difference, although significant, is not the reason for the gas mileage difference. Tuning and gearing is the difference. Cadillac learned and has NOT made the same mistake again with respect to the SRX. It will have gas mileage figures WAY above it's competition thanks to a SUPER-TALL final gear.

Anyway, getting back to CTSv performance. A new wrinkle has appeared in the story. It seams that certain GM exec's are getting interested in a new AWD drivetrain from Holden (the folks that brought us the new GTO base-car, the Monaro).
It seams that Holden has not only got a nice AWD Commadore platform, but also has an EXTREME performance version sedan that uses a Chevy race-prepped 427. GM is already talking production on that. So the possibilities are wide-open for virtually ANY drivetrain that Cadillac may want to dump into the CTSv (or possibly the nex gen Seville, er, STS)
I still think it's going to be the same basic drivetrain as the GTO initially.

it will be very interesting when the gto comes out. It will be compared to all the cars including gm's other cars for handling performance which it is suppose to be VERY good at.

i really dont want to go off on a tangent so ill keep this short...why does pontiac think it can sell the GTO when it couldnt sell the Firebird..arent these cars very similar.

But to get back to cadillac...to me the CTS-V needs 350hp minimum
