'03 CTS - power steering overflowing periodically, how do I fix it?

The power steering fluid keeps over flowing and running down and burning and makes me so sick from the smell. What causing it to over flow? It doesn't do it all the time or the entire time. For example, I drove 40 minutes to the doctor and never smelled it. When I came out and started my car it was instant and terrible.

Is the reservoir over flowing or maybe a bad hose?
"Cadillac CTS 2003" is not a particularly useful thread title - you're posting in the 2003-2007 CTS forum, so it's not a surprise that you have one of those. I updated the thread title to something descriptive about the topic of the thread, which should help other members find your thread if it's something they're interested in or know about. If you want people to automatically know that you've got an '03 CTS, then put that information into your profile and it will show up below your name on every post.

What is the level in the PS fluid reservoir when the system is cold? Has it overflowed on multiple occasions? Have you been adding fluid back into the system?
Are you sure its power steering fluid? 03 have a common problem of engine oil burping out of the driver side valve cover gasket. This can be fixed with a PCV up grade.
