I’ve read that one can defeat a P 0420 Cat code by inserting a stainless steel insert into the 02 bung on the exhaust pipe Question ... is there any clearance issues with inserting this 2” extension? I’ve been told it adds 2” to the 02 sensor length. I want to make sure the bung hole is angled from the factory in such a way to accommodate the stainless 02 extension.

Thanks

Here's a picture of the O2 sensor bung on the right (passenger) side of the resonator pipe (the rear system is upside down here - CORSA replaced it.). There should be no interference, but remove the heat shield for ease of work (definitely replace it when done) and do not unduly bend or twist the sensor electrical pigtail.

You might - might - clear a P 0420 for a while by using a spark plug anti-fouling device, but better to diagnose and correct the real problem.

Thank you for that clarification about the clearances around the 04 Seville’s 02 sensor location. I believe BigDaddys garage sells the stainless plug for the 02 sensor. Will give It a try. Thanks again for the reply ??
