when I am adjusting the driver seat forward or backwards it stops after about 2 inches, I just let off on the power adjustment lever for a quick second then hit it again and it goes about another two inches, it takes three shots to get it from the wifes spot to mine. All other power seat functions are ok. The larger issue is the seat recall positions now don't work as they should. I guess after the signal is sent the seat stops in just two or three inches. All the reading I am doing suggests that if the motor was bad it would not work at all. I have taken all the mats out and verified there is nothing hanging up.

Not sure about this but don't relays have some kind of over heating protecting that could be causeing this?

You could have an issue with one of the seat position sensors.
If the seat module detects a particular voltage it may think the seat is already forward or backward all the way.
I agree that a bad motor would behave differently.
At this point you need a scan tool to access the date for the fore/aft seat position sensor to see if it's reading properly.
