I'm looking at a low mileage 2002 (again) and there is one picture that has me concerned. I see that undernieth the hood there is some rust. Is this common or normal or am I looking at a shady vehicle? Any opinions are appreciated.

normal - I've seen it on several 02 and 03's - my wife's 02 envoy is even worse than that - my 03 esv was about the same...both at low mileage, always washed, detailed etc

I also see alot of rust around the rear glass hatch hinges on those years

None on my 03 and it was from New York.

None on my 02 and its lived its entire life in the northeast.

None on my 03's when I got rid of it, and I drive thru a lot of snow and salt all winter long.

Not on my 03, and I live near the water in Florida.

None on my 2003 ESV, and none on my current 2005 ESV. Doesn't seem normal to me. I drive in winter conditions.

None on my 02 and 04 Escalades.

I live on the Northwest with rain all the time. So it doesnt look too normal to me.

Looking at that picture again, there seems to be some more rust down near the hinge part. Somethings kind of suspicious there.
