  1. 06 DTS Engine Swap Prep

Oil & filter change. Replaced the pressure switch & still get the intermittent low pressure message. Odd thing about that - 99% of the time it happens at idle in a right hand turn. So I pulled the filter bypass plug & apparently my tester doesn't have the correct thread, though it looks the...

Drove the car home last night, roughly 40 minutes on the highway, with no issues & no low oil pressure warning. Though this morning at a couple stop signs exiting my neighborhood, the warning dinged on for a second, then off again. Stopped to double check & all seemed ok. The lifter noise hasn't...

Finally finished & got her started up yesterday for the first time. Had to work for awhile to get some air out of the system, but temperature is now right where it should be. After the car had been running & warm for awhile (still idling in the shop) the low oil pressure warning came on. Shut...

Gave up on the "replacement" engine. After running into milky oil in the pan, a mix of Dexcool & green coolant, & then finding one of the overhead cam lobes with rust & pitting. Figured if I was going to be putting the extra time & effort into an engine, it might as well be the one that I have a...

A bit of follow up. Pulled the oil pan & there was no sludge, but there was a bit of milky oil left. Also captured some of the coolant in a container. Easier to see that it's a mix of Dexcool with something green. Hopefully one of the "universal" versions so no real damage was done. Guess I'll...

Been there, done that, still have the hand cramps to prove it....but yes, water pump & all the fun that goes along with it is on my list. Thanks for the feedback. Had my fingers crossed that crank case wasn't as much of an issue as older models, but I guess better safe than sorry.

Had this in my temp issue post, but thought a new thread would be good since it's a different topic. The short version - got a deal on an '06 DTS. Discovered overheating & confirmed combustion gasses in the coolant. Subsequently found a used engine, with less miles & warranty, & decided to do a...

Back to this. Got a deal on another used '06 DTS engine with a warranty (and lower miles), so I'm planning on doing an engine swap. I'll get around to tearing down the current engine over the winter to determine if it was just a head gasket or worse. So my questions: What seals, gaskets etc...

Well sonny beaches. Sure enough, blue ever so slowly became green, then yellow. Going back to the seller regarding the "undisclosed" issues.

Interesting Bee1. Thanks for the feedback. I just finished the last round of the day. No issues while idling in the driveway & purge line flow seemed better, but not what I would expect. Test drive heated up again. Coolant level looks ok after parking it. Can the pressure cap fail so it...

First, thanks for a great place with such a wealth of knowledge. I've been driving an 03 Deville for the past 4 years & have tapped into some great info to help keep it on the road. Just rolled 220k as a daily driver, averaging about 500 miles each week with my commute. So last week I found a...

Resolution. After watching my symptoms progress & multiply over the last few weeks, the culprit was the catalytic converter. It's been a couple days with no codes, no stumbling, & a noticeable power/acceleration increase.

Haven't been able to check fuel pressure yet. TB & EGR valve were good, but cleaned again for good measure this weekend. I've done the WOT every so often since I've owned the car, but have never had noticeable smoke...but occasionally when putting my foot down to merge with highway traffic...

Is anyone aware if there are after market equivalents to the rear insulator bushings? GM part numbers: 10397249 15237958 15237959

Update: casting a wide net & find that the control arm part number is the same that is used on a number of other Cadi & Buick models. The GM bushing part number is 25557622, which of course has been discontinued as an individually available item. I also found a list of brand replacements for the...

So looking over this page at gmpartsdirect the bottom image on the left shows the bushing as #11...which of course is the only item not listed as available for sale. Any ideas?

New member, but have been reading & soaking up the knowledge while I was keeping my eyes open for the right deal. So I found an 03 that had been parked for awhile. Relatively low miles, no rust, & very clean, aside from being parked under some trees long enough to have a layer of decomposed...
