  1. remote start and seat heater

    Cadillac ATS General Discussion Forum
Could they be on and you just don't know it? I find that the heating elements are so weak, that I can't feel much warmth in the 8 minutes it takes me to get to work. So maybe they're on, but just not putting out enough heat to notice. (It's annoying that my GF's Focus will almost burn you...
  2. Cue removal

    Cadillac ATS General Discussion Forum
Good to know there's options. I had mine done at the dealer shortly before the warranty ended, but you never know if GM actually corrected the underlying issue on the new parts.
  3. Replacing Battery

    Cadillac ATS General Discussion Forum
That does release the steering wheel lock, but it won't allow me to shift to neutral, even while stepping on the brake pedal. The only way it seems I can shift to neutral is by starting the engine.
  4. air conditioning

    Cadillac ATS General Discussion Forum
Mine sometimes does that in moderate temps, say around 17-18°C outside. It usually figures things out after a few miles of diving. And since it only seems to happen in that middle temperature zone where sometimes you need A/C, sometimes you need heat, I haven't worried much about it.
  5. How can I safely jack my 2015 ATS?

    Cadillac ATS General Discussion Forum
Those are the exact jacking points I use, at least twice a year to swap out tires. I don't like the 'sharpness' of the cup on my standard floor jack, so I have a thick flat piece of steel I put between the jack and the car to spread the load better.
  6. Front brakes making 'graunching' sound

    Cadillac ATS General Discussion Forum
How do you remove the pins, I didn't think there was a bolt head on them? The rotors are certainly crusty in the non-wearing areas, maybe I'll clean them up a bit just in case.
  7. Front brakes making 'graunching' sound

    Cadillac ATS General Discussion Forum
I have a 2014 Premium with the Brembo brakes and about 35,000 miles. When warm, the front brakes make a kind of grinding/groaning sound when coming to a stop. It almost sounds like the pads are down to the rivets (although not quite as metallic of a sound as that), and you can slightly feel it...
  8. Headlight bulbs keep blowing out of my 2013 ATS Luxury

    Cadillac ATS General Discussion Forum
Moisture kills bulbs. It's a good idea when replacing bulbs that you use di-electric grease on all mating/gasket surfaces to seal out moisture, and also on the contacts to keep them corrosion-free (and therefore not adding resistance to the circuit). Also dirt and fingerprints kills bulbs, so...
  9. Used 2014 ATS 2.0T AWD - Yes or no?

    Cadillac ATS General Discussion Forum
I wouldn't worry about the pistons ... as JTS97Z28 said, it's rare enough to begin with (message boards always over-emphasize issues), and even if your car was prone, it likely would have happened in the 4 years it's already been on the road. Plus you have 3 more years of powertrain warranty...
  10. Anti-Freeze advice!

    Cadillac ATS General Discussion Forum
Re: Ant-Freeze advice! You don't think GM engineers are aware that some folks have hard water? If they believed it was an issue, they would certainly say something (heck my laundry detergent even has specific instructions for hard water). But they don't even mention it. So clearly they...
  11. Anti-Freeze advice!

    Cadillac ATS General Discussion Forum
Re: Ant-Freeze advice! I'll never understand why so many people choose not to follow their owner's manual. It says right in it to use clean drinking water with the Dex-Cool. No mention is made of distilled water. I'm quite certain that if distilled water provided a tangible benefit, GM would...
  12. CT3 and 10 other models comprise the 2021 lineup (educated guess)

Community Lounge, Introductions and General Discus
I think the failure of the ATS and CTS to make significant inroads in the premium sedan market, despite being at least equal (if not better in some regards) than their competition, has shown that the strategy of trying to beat the Germans at their own game has been a failure. Most shoppers in...
  13. Rust?

    Cadillac ATS General Discussion Forum
GM's pretty much got rust figured out ... I can't recall the last time I saw any significant body rust on any GM vehicle newer than about 10 years old. Now Mazda and Dodge, on the other hand, they're still living in the 80s.
  14. Winter Tires and Steel Rims

    Cadillac ATS General Discussion Forum
Check kijiji, you can usually find lots of winter tires and rims, and usually for about half the cost. I got a set of 17" alloys and Michelin snows including sensors for $550. They didn't quite have the right hub size (even though they came off an ATS) so a set of $15 hub centric rings from...
  15. Do you get heat from your dash vents when it's cold?

    Cadillac ATS General Discussion Forum
I have a 2014 ATS Premium. I had some parts of my CUE replaced when the HVAC didn't seem to be working properly (not sure what parts, perhaps the screen because it wasn't responding in the middle). Now that I've got it back, and it's cold out, I've noticed that heat only comes out of the floor...
  16. I'm so impressed with the Platinum GM Extended Protection Plan...

    Cadillac ATS General Discussion Forum
Anyone know of dealers in Canada that have good prices on GMPP?
  17. HVAC Air Control Settings On CUE Screen

    Cadillac ATS General Discussion Forum
I had the same thing happen to me a couple of weeks ago. I noticed it because it seemed like the HVAC couldn't keep up when it was either really hot or really cold, and the fan wouldn't blow hard, so I was manually playing with the settings when I discovered this. The service advisor diagnosed...
  18. Keyfob battery dying???

    Cadillac ATS General Discussion Forum
I just replaced the batteries on my 2014's fobs this weekend (similar symptom as you), so yeah, you're probably due as well.
  19. ATS and CTS will be combined!

    Cadillac ATS General Discussion Forum
True. So we might have to add a couple hundred to the sticker to cover the CAFE hit. Similarly the 3.6 in the Camaro is all the engine 95% of the people need, heck it's almost as fast as the original LS1 Camaros. But the V8 has the image and appeal a lot of folks like, and especially in the...
  20. ATS and CTS will be combined!

    Cadillac ATS General Discussion Forum
Actually it is relatively easy. The fuel/drivetrain/suspension were already upgraded for the ATS-V. The V8 has already been put into its platform-mate Camaro. But regardless, I was thinking more about the next gen car.
