The overlay actually has a cut out so your existing emblem will show through. The overlay attaches entirely with 3M double sided adhesive tape. I have had mine on almost a year now and it hasn’t blemished or came loose.
For the wrap, I used 3M gloss black vinyl. It’s pretty easy to use (wrapped my entire DTS with it myself before) because it is so flexible when you heat it up, and you don’t need to be terribly precise because it will be largely covered by the overlay.
Here’s a link to the exact vinyl I used. You probably won’t need this whole roll for it, but I used it and another roll to black out all the silver on the car, too.
