      Welcome to Cadillac Forums and congrats on your purchase.
      I owned a low mileage '89 CDV for four years and it was one of the most dependable, trouble free cars I have ever driven.
      
      If you can handle basic maintenance, I strongly recommend picking up a FSM (Factory Service Manual) and attempting the diagnosis & repair yourself. You'll be surprised at your skillset and the first successful repair always pays for the cost of the manual.

      Again, this is not something I feel comfortable doing. Got down to looking at it after removing the panel and said, nuh uh. I don't have a problem paying someone to do it properly. I am not that someone. I'm an operator not a repairman.
