  1. My Head Gasket Repair Begins

Cadillac Seville / Cadillac Eldorado Forum
Regarding the I beam. The body is pretty light without the cradle. You should not have a problem.
  2. Northstar head studs and head gasket repair- a few questions

Cadillac Seville / Cadillac Eldorado Forum
If the car is driven long enough with bad HG's you can get coolant in the oil. People usually give up driving it first but there are exceptions.
  3. My Head Gasket Repair Begins

The good news is the solenoid is pretty easy to change with the engine out, the bad news is a seal in the trans is probably leaking. I haven't been following Caddys lately so I'm not sure how long the solenoid lasts with a leaky seal. Do some searching and there are instructions on changing...

Are you dropping them out the bottom then? Do you have one of the "carts" the dealers have to set it on or do you use something else.
  7. 96' Seville STS blown HG repair yes/no

Cadillac Seville / Cadillac Eldorado Forum
More people have completed the rapair by dropping the engine than have ever done it in the car. It can be done in the car but I would never do it that way. You only need an engine hoist to lift the body off. It is no heavier than an engine. Then the engine is sooooooooo much easier to work on.
  8. HG and Timesert in car

Unless you have a large number of sockets, extensions, and swivels you are probably better off dropping the cradle. Now if you post the "secrets" you have learned it might be worth pulling one out the top.
  9. My 1971 cadillac stalled when driving up a hill and will not start back up.

It is possible to get some fuel with nothing to stop it and no fuel once there is a little resistance. Fuel pressure gauges for carbs are pretty cheap. I think you should have 4-5 lbs pressure.
  10. Chevron Techron Fuel Aditive

Going super concentrated can damage some pumps and injector windings. It can strip the insulation off. Keep it to the correct concentration. I don't know if one usage would do that but there is no need to run it super strong.

    Cadillac DeVille 1985 to 2005 including:1985-1992
Before changing anything try a bottle of injector cleaner in the tank. One bottle per tankful. Some gas can coat the windings of the sensor. I had good luck running the cleaner. Get a good brand, maybe Techron, not the 99 cent store bottle.
  12. 2002 Cadilac Eldorado Check Engine Light and general maintenance Question?

Cadillac Seville / Cadillac Eldorado Forum
Computer control (on cars) is not magic, but you cannot see things happening so depending on how deep you are going to go you have to get the equipment to diagnose it. I took a class (Comm College here has a great automotive program) on it to get a better handle on it. You can usually find...
  13. Alternator problems?

Cadillac Seville / Cadillac Eldorado Forum
You can have a bad connection or broken wire in the harness. I would look close to the alternator and see if the wires seem OK at the plugs. The Caddy alternator is a pain to change (compared to one on top of the engine) and the wires can get twisted and yanked more than they should be.
  14. Not sure where to post for advice :(

Cadillac Seville / Cadillac Eldorado Forum
So far it sounds like everything he told you is wrong. The trans is shifted by solenoids (electromagnets) if they stick or break the trans stays in 2nd gear and doesn't shift. The "brain" ? What is it? What does it look like. Is there a part number on it? He may have changed something that did...
  15. Transmission issues...

Cadillac Seville / Cadillac Eldorado Forum
38,000 miles on the car, correct? I wonder if you have water mixed with the ATF from condensation. I would try changing the trans fluid first. Reuseable pan gasket, screens, not filters, so it's only a matter of draining and refilling. There is a plug under (above) one of the screens that...
