Olds LX5 Shortstar head gasket issues?

I have a co-worker with an 01 Olds Intrigue with the Shortstar and he thinks it has head gasket issues. Did this engine have the same issue with heads lifting that the N* had, or was it different enough to have "simple" head gasket problems? I told him I would ask here as the wealth of knowledge on this forum surpasses about any other forum I've been on - and that's a lot!

Not getting much info on this site from "short star" owners, but my guess is it was the same. I'd do a block test and if it fails, treat it the same as the Northstar, that is, drill and insert or stud the bolt holes.

Well if you can believe Wikipedia, although it's "based" on the Aurora, the block was 100% new which is why I wonder if it suffered the same problems.
