Cradle has to come down at least IIRC, the pans aren't super bad leakers but the half case is and rear seal, I did Normserts while it was out as my car was leaking badly and half the work was taking engine out.
Have you checked the OP sender for leaks as they are know issue?
Unless doing the work yourself or engine is really puking oil not sure I'd fix it(think cost of few qts of oil a year and car wash vs expensive repairs).
I'd also verify the cam covers weren't the source of the leak(or even just change them) before dropping the cradle and doing pan.

GM labor time, in a GM shop with all the special tools and new procedures (no gasket - RTV Gray), is 14 hours.

Yes, it's a damn near total disassembly procedure.

Not fun - find the weep/leak FIRST.

That's crazy !! Why would they design something like that, to make it so hard to replace? I guess to eliminate the "Shade Tree" mechanics, such as myself. I don't even know if I should attempt to replace it. When I had the oil changed, they told me it was leaking. The labor alone will be a killer, for 14 hours, and the gasket cost $20.00. Ridiculous.....

What is a OP sender? Oil pan I presume.

Actually, I believe they’re referring to the Oil Pressure Sender.

Oil pressure sender - on the top side of the oil filter adapter.

No "gasket" (silicone seal) is used for the updated Northstar pan seal replacement - a measured bead of RTV Gray is used in the existing seal groove.
