Stereo swap-‘02 STS Bose into ‘96 Eldorado??

I have access to a junk yard STS- 2002 I think- it has a factory Bose system CD/Cassette in the dash and a 12 disc changer in the console. We just acquired a 1996 Eldorado for our daughter. It has a factory cassette player in the dash, that is all. The player from the ‘02 STS looks like it is the same shape and style as ‘96, just different controls- looks like it would fit right in like factory original. My question is: will the wiring harnesses match up or at least not be too difficult to splice a few or leave a few wires out so the STS Bose CD player will work in our 96 Eldorado?

You'll need the Bose amps from the '02 to even think of making it work. This includes the wiring harnesses.
Most Caddy's of this period ( other than the Eldo), went to a central Bose amp behind the back seat, but since the Eldo had no updates late in its history they maybe on EACH speaker.
Not sure of the connectors at the radio end.
Both radios have Theft-Loc, so the '02 will have to be blessed by the dealer.

NO - for several reasons -

the 2002 GM radios have TheftLOC systems -
it must verify and compare the current VIN with the stored VIN every time the radio is turned on -
if the VIN numbers don't match - the radio is locked -

the 96 Eldo has no way to supply the VIN number to the radio -

even if the radio/car was compatible -
it would take an electrical engineer to install a BOSE radio into a non-BOSE supplied car -

a BOSE radio in the Seville and Deville are the same -
the Eldo radios were completely different -

lastly - there was a BIG change in the electrical/network/data systems of the Seville and Deville starting in 2002 -
a 2001 and older BOSE system simply will not work in a 2002+ Seville or Deville -
likewise - a 2002 and newer BOSE system will not work in a 2001 and older Seville or Deville -
this includes the 6-disc CD changer - which works in both BOSE and non-BOSE systems -

    -------------------

the Eldo never got any of the updates/upgrades that the Seville and Deville did
because it was already destined for extinction -

depending on the model Eldo you have - and the specific radio you have -
it MIGHT be wired for the trunk-mounted 12 disc CD changer -
and the radio MIGHT be able to control it - Plug-N-Play -

look closely at the radio face -
is there a SOURCE button? or maybe a TAPE/CD button?
    if YES -
you could look for the CD changer on ebay -
