Has anyone done the Monroe 90012 shock conversion kit on their truck??

They go for under 180 and they replace the air ride system...thinking of replacing mine and getting some moog springs for the whole setup. My shocks/compressor been shot for past 2 years so I dont even know what a real suspension feels like anymore...

Re: Has anyone done the Monroe 90012 shock conversion kit on their truck??

Iíve been messing around with mine, still havenít found the right setup.

    - Bilsteins w/ stock spring
    - lasted one trip
    - Bilsteins w/ moog 81069 springs
    - created a lot of body roll and didnít personally didnít like the suv having freedom to move side to side
    - Removed Bilsteins and added some RMT I believe air bag shock) w/ moog 81069 springs
    - torsion bar Mount Just went bad, but more controlled but not leveling ride of and ride quality

Right now Iím thinking of some type of air bag shock...front I might just bite the bullet and get some coil -overs... unsure right ny

Our vehicles do not have any form of "air ride". It's a shock bladder system that compensates for extra weight in the cargo area or rear seat. The air bladders have no effect on suspension control - that's up to the strut/shock hydraulic cylinders and their oil flow rate valving settings.

Some vehicles use a set of conventional passive hydraulic struts and shocks; some use an early form of active suspension control (CVRSS); some use the later MRC - Magnetic Ride Control. Each has its advantages and disadvantages - the greatest drawback being the expensive CVRSS and MRC components.

Does a front coilover exist in the aftermarket for our SUVs? I'd love to ditch the torsion keys.

Thank you. I may buy the kit for my Escalade. My only reason for wanting a newer model SUV would be to gain a better ride without the torsion bar suspension. I may save up for the kit.

Re: Has anyone done the Monroe 90012 shock conversion kit on their truck??

on both my EXT and Denali I put the z71 coils and Monroe Reflex shocks and a little crank of the torsion bars. It made a world of difference and I gutted the autoride right out of the truck. No body roll, its very smooth and controlled. it took me a while to find this combo that really made the ride nice.
