    Safety Belt Tightening

One question -- just updated my '15 ESV Luxury buyback to a '18 Platinum.

Does the automatic seat belt tightening feature only work in emergency situations or does it tighten every time you put your
seatbelt on? Wasn't quite sure how it works. Thanks.

    Re: Safety Belt Tightening

You get in, buckle up, and adjust the belt for comfortable lap and chest tightness. The belt will move along with you if you move slowly and deliberately. If an accident occurs the belts lock and the pretensioner (down in the buckle strap area) snugs them up instantly as the airbags activate.

    Re: Safety Belt Tightening

Thanks for the info. On other vehicles such as my mother's Mercedes, you can actually feel the belt tighten itself after you put it on. Mine isn't doing anything is why
I'm wondering if it's not working.

    Re: Safety Belt Tightening

The seat/shoulder belts should maintain slight tension regardless of where/how you move.

If your belt(s) stay loose and sloppy then you have a problem.

Thanks for your help. I just noticed you're from Kent Island. I'm in Georgia and just got back from Kent island for my wife's cousin's wedding. It's a beautiful area!

    Re: Safety Belt Tightening

My 2019 CT6 pulls back the seatbelts a few seconds after hitting the road.
My 2017 Platinum Escalate does not.
    Hope this helps!

    Re: Safety Belt Tightening

My 19 does not either... at least not when I first buckle up.

Works great on acceleration though. Sharp turns and braking sets it off.

The vehicle may have the Automatic Seat Belt Tightening System.
The system activates during emergency braking and/or sudden driving maneuvers and releases when driving conditions return to normal.

It also will not activate if the Traction Control/Electronic Stability Control system is not functioning properly.

IMO, Would be nice to have the ability to turn it off when I want to.
