    Front window sunshade recommendation?

So it's still early in the year but soon it's going to be our lovely friend the Sun driving photons of death to the leather and bottom of the CUE screen. Does anyone have any experience with purchasing a quality sunshade for the ELR? Something that fits like a glove likes it's made for the car? The ELR windshield is very raked so I would think that a lot of screens would easily fall down.

What's NOT cool is something with Sponge Bob, a huge smiley face or stupid little flowery crap on it - I would like something that looks nice. I would welcome any thoughts on this. The CUE screens do not like sunlight, which you can see if you take into account screen failures of Texas, Arizona and Florida cars when they're not covered up.

    Thanks! - DSG

I have the Cadillac ELR branded sunshade. See if you can find that one. I'm pretty sure it came with the car but I bought the car second-hand.

To keep the shade in place, you fold your sun visors over it.

Thank you gentlemen. I did see that one but thought perhaps it was a little generic, maybe trying to sell a sunshade that fits "most" cars. If it truly works great for the ELR with that super raked window, then great! Spendy little bastard... I hope that it is worth the price - I'll soon see!

That is definitely it, but as for how well it works I have never had an occasion to try it out yet.

I don't like my GM accessory sunshade. When it gets hot, it gets very limp and bends downward, causing it to fall out from behind the visors unless you pull the bottom way forward. Doing that leaves part of the dash exposed to the sun, which kind of defeats the purpose.

I've had Covercraft sunshades for my previous Cadillacs and loved them. They were much more rigid and the flexibility didn't change when they got hot. I've never seen the ELR version, but I'd assume it would work better than the official accessory one.

Also, if you decide to get the GM accessory version, compare prices from ebay and your local Cadillac parts department. With shipping included, GM Parts Direct is often more expensive.

Thanks Reciprocity! That's the info I was looking for! I believe you if you say the generic one sags when hot. I went to the Covercraft website and they custom make sizes for your car and that's what I was hoping someone could tell me, so thanks! I will order one today!!!

I did go ahead and order a new Covercraft sunshade and I will report back when I get it of just how "custom" it is.

    Re: Front window sunshade recommendation?

Got the Covercraft sunshade. It is awesome. It covers almost the whole window with about 1" at each end, probably good to let a little air to circulate between the window and the cover. The cover goes all the way into the front, and there's just enough left over that it ends up at the top 1" of the headliner, not against the window. Fold your sun visors down and you're done. This leaves about 4" of air gap between the shade and the window. I would highly rate this sunshade. Thanks Reciprocity for your advice.

Now then, why can't these guys make one for the rear? I hate knowing the back of the seats are getting nuked as well, the speaker et al... Here's a few picsSunshade inside.jpgSunshade front.jpg
