Post EV Battery showing full at 29 Miles

I have a 2014 ELR with about 25000 miles. Normally it shows 37 Miles when fully charged. In the last month it when to 34 miles when full to 32 miles and now 29 miles when full.

    Any Ideas?

Also, we've been having colder than normal weather here in Texas. Frequent freezing and upper 30s. Perhaps that has something to do with the guesstimation / calculations within the onboard CPU?

That's perfectly normal, and to be expected. The computer is estimating range based on your past drive cycles. If it's really cold out, the car will use more energy to heat the battery. (You'll likely be using more energy to keep yourself warm, too, whether it's with the climate control, heated seats, heated steering wheel, etc.).

I'd recommend preconditioning the car while it's plugged in, so you at least start out with a warm car that's fully charged. Set your climate settings how you want them when you park the car and allow about 10 minutes after it finishes for the car to fully recharge. If you're driving a long distance that will require gas anyway, you might also consider using Hold mode to force the engine to run at the beginning of your trip. That will heat up the engine and allow the car to use that heat to warm the passenger compartment.

If you're really concerned and trying to squeeze out as much electric range as possible (let's say you have a 30 mile commute and the car's estimating 29 miles of range), consider turning down the climate control, using climate eco mode, etc. Also, make sure your tire pressure is correct. Otherwise, if you just want to be comfortable, just drive the car and use a little gas if needed. That's how it's designed to work!

Good luck...hopefully winter weather is over soon so our efficiency numbers go back up!

Agreed with most everything stated above by "Reciprocity". One note on Preconditioning though. When I remote start my '14 ELR to Precondition (mostly before departing work for the drive home), I notice that the Rear Defrost is ALWAYS engaged (at least during the winter months), regardless of whether or not it's necessary. I believe the Rear Defroster is a pretty big "Power Vampire", so be sure to turn it off when you get in and fully Power-up your ELR after Preconditioning.

On a related note... It's puzzling to me why the Rear Defroster automatically engages during Preconditioning in the cold weather months, but the Heated Steering Wheel does not automatically switch on as part of that Preconditioning process. Definitely a "miss" by Caddy IMO.

The rear defroster comes on under remote start / precondition at all temperatures - not just cold. Both 2014 and 2016 models. Annoying and wasteful. But I've just gotten into the habit of turning it off immediately after getting in - if it isn't needed (which is most of the time).

Agreed - it would have been nice if the heated wheel would come on when necessary. You can configure the heated seats to do so.

Have you had any software updates done on your 2014 ELR engine/hybrid control module? I took my vehicle in recently and the tech performed an update reprogramming the engine and the hybrid drive system. Since then I've noticed that I am not getting more than 28-32 on a charge and that the car seems less peppy. This all started when a battery sensor when out and needed replacing. I'm in Texas.
