Re: Xm radio not working all of a sudden.

I havent had any problems with the Cadillac but had two separate issues with my Honda XM. First time was a bad xm module...replaced under warranty. Second time was corrosion around the antenna that caused a short. The antenna is easy to check. Just remove the rear dome light and pull the headliner down far enough to access the screws, and then remove the antenna. Visual inspection may reveal issues (but this is not conclusive). If antenna appears fine, check the mount/connection and move on. The module is under the rear shelf cover...kind of a pain to access and no way to test DIY that I am aware of. Testing the module may be best left to dealer or audio shop, unless you just plan to replace and hope for the best.

I believe the OnStar module uses the same raw antenna plug. Raw meaning you have to remove the plastic part of the plug and just use the actual metal connection.

However, the OnStar module is located on the passenger side of the trunk. The very opposite side of the audio amp. So getting the OnStar cable and XM module in the same area for testing will be a bitch.

I did replace the roof mount antenna on my CTS to a better looking antenna many years ago. I even painted it to match the color of my CTS. I had to use the OnStar's antenna cable to connect to my XM module. I can't remember why though.

Do you where the XM module is located?

I just found this video and it makes sense. Although for your case it may still be the issue, even with you trying the OnStar as well.
