AC Compressor Replacement or just Clutch... In 2007 L92 Escalade?

Got an '07 Escalade with the L92 that the AC compressor clutch melted yetserday. A bunch of moltent plastic came out of the front. Not sure if the compressor itself is bad; only 62k miles on it so I wouldn't think it is.

Probably just going to replace the clutch.

Has anyone replaced one of these clutches? I've never heard of one so new going bad. Can it be done with the AC comp in the truck? I'd really rather not break open the system...

If you had plastic oozing from the compressor, chances are the whole thing is fried. Remove the belt from the compressor to try and manually spin it. Does the clutch engage and disengage still? I think the compressor is on the pass side lower part of the block. You may be able to get the special little tool in there to pull it off and install the new clutch, but you need the tool. Does the a/c cool and do you have freon?
