Crankshaft Position Sensor - How hard to replace?

The title says it all. I have a 2003 CTS with the 3.2 that has intermittent starting issues, and I'm led to believe it is the Crankshaft Position Sensor. The local dealership has been less than helpful, and I wanted to know where this was, and if it was user replaceable? Thanks in advance for the help!

Re: Crankshaft Position Sensor - How hard to replace?

that sounds like the problem. mine was doing the same thing and i just changed it last week. it is not the easiest but is doable. first locate it the sensor sits right about the oil filter housing, drivers side front, you will have 1 bolt to remove. remove the wiper module and motor. the plug for the sensor sits basically right under it toward the middle of the car on the back side of the engine. take the bolt out and unplug it, they recommend you tie a wire so you can follow the same path. the sensor cost around 80 bucks and you can save up to 200 in labor, like i said not the easiest thing, its hard to get the bold out since its hard to reach and you cant really see it. hope this helps
