theromstat on a 03 cts

I had the engine light come on my 2003 cts
I took it to my local GM dealership to find out the problem
He told me I need a new theromstat
and it would cost me $1200 to fix it

Mine went bad and it was 400 bucks, It requires the removal of the intake. I was going to do it but, they did it under warranty once and it failed again. So they charged me 175 bucks to do it. Does your car have the option to read codes throught the DIC?
You turn the key to on and hit the 1 and 6 preset buttons at the same time. It allows you to read the codes.

these are the codes that DIC is displaying
* EBC 25746910 6008
*MSM 25739645 1676
AMP 25745128 3440

It would be a PCM code. Either P0125 or P0128...the P0128 is more common to a Thermostat failure...1200 seems a bit high. I wouldn't pay that. Normal cost of that repair is approx 400-650 through a dealer...they are adding other things in that cost, like maybe a coolant flush or something of that nature.
