Question DTS Winter Tires

I have an 06 DTS Performance. When I went shopping for winter tires, there wasn't anything available in the 18" size. I found a set of new 06 DTS wheels on ebay and got factory size Michelin Alpin tires. Now my stealership is trying to tell me that I cannot put these factory wheels with factory size tires on my car because it will cause my ABS to fail and the car cannot be calibrated for tires this size.

Anyone know what they're talking about, I think they're blowing smoke. My research indicates that 235/55/17 and 245/50/18 are the same circumference and overall diameter.

Of course it looks like I won't need winter tires this year anyway.
