Ah hah! I mis-read. Thanks for the clarification. They're only 1 speed rating lower than the RS-A's and I highly doubt I'll see 130. 110, maybe, but 130 is pushing it.

    Thanks again!

A follow up question. The RS-A that come stock are V rated to 149 mph. The tripletreds are only R rated to 106. I don't often drive over 100, but the temptation is there. Am I going to have an instant blow out if I crest 106 or is that more of a recommendation?

    Re: bunch of tire questions

It's not a blow out situation. The speed rating of a tire is the speed at which a tire with the maximum rated air pressure will start to loose integrity.

In other words at any speed above the rated one, the handling characteristics become unpredictable and will change from the expected ones.

It's where the integrity of the sidewall changes shape and / or size. Now having said that, the speed rating is there for a reason.

    Nokian WR All-Weather Plus

    Tire Selection

I am seriously considering these. I live in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada and we get a lot of snow. I don't like the hassle of changing tires/wheels every 6 months.

These are pricey by they seem to be taking off in popularity. The reviews in both Car & Driver and Canadian Driver are excellent.

They are warrantied for 50,000 miles (80,000 km) and carry a 98V load/speed rating. If I had a CTS-V I wouldn't even consider them but my 2005 CTS sport/luxury pkg. would benefit from them (I hope).

Consumers Reports does not rate them but they have had so many requests that they are to be included in this falls All-Season Tire ratings.

Best of all they come in 225-50-17 size.

    Regards, Duiz
